A long time ago...

A long time ago in a country which doesn't exist any more there lived a boy. He dreamed about tons of cool things. However, the only way to get them was to build them. This is how he crafted a guitar pickup from furniture magnets and broken relay coil. A heatsink from an old motorcycle's engine was good enough to cool a simple semiconductor amp circuit. A cabinet from an old record player hosted this craft build. Since that, crafting electronic circuits was how he spent all his time.

Around the same time he found an old broken tube radio covering dust at the attic. He managed to return it back to live. For the next few years this radio was his best friend. "Perestroika" has opened borders for people and information, that was a heyday for broadcasting of all kinds.

Few decades later, on the other side of the globe he came across a market listing with a similar looking radio. He decided to buy it and return to the old hobby. Can't stop since lol.

This one was made in an Eastern German in 60s. Costs about $20 and took another $70 for the parts, most of which was a silicone form and casting resin to fork a missing button. Didn't even bother myself with short waves, but carefully aligned FM. The radio sounds just amazing.
