About me

Hi there!

My name is Sergey Zababurin. I build guitar tube amps and repair vintage tube radios. Whether you want to repair your gear or commission a custom amp, feel free to reach out at: serg.zababurin [at] gmail.com. Otherwise, enjoy the beauty of valve technology—there are plenty of pictures to come!

A Bit More About Me

I got started in electronics in middle school. The late eighties were an amazing time when you had to do everything yourself if you needed something. I built my first amp at thirteen and my first guitar pedal at fifteen. Although I never played guitar myself, my best friend played in a band, which kept me involved. I spent countless hours sketching schematics from magazines and scavenging parts from discarded electronics. I was lucky enough to have the support of my father’s friends—grown men who were willing to spend their time talking to a boy or sharing their electronic components and books.
This hobby eventually led to a Master’s degree in Applied Physics and my first job as an electronics assembler. Later, my career took a turn into IT and computer networking, which I have been doing for almost 20 years now. Another major milestone was immigrating to Canada in 2018. I currently work as a Technical Architect for a major telco, holding Cisco CCNP and Juniper JNCIP certifications, along with several others in Cloud, Cybersecurity, and various platforms.
My electronics hobby was on a long pause until about a year ago, when a friend asked me to help their ten-year-old son with his first circuit. I realized then how much I missed the smell of rosin flux and having little scraps of wire scattered all over the house. It took less than a month to fill a bookcase with tools, boxes of parts, wire bobbins, and old radio chassis. There is much more fun to come!
